What to look for in a disposable vape

In Spain a disposable cannot contain more than 2 ml of e-liquid or more than 20 mg/ml of nicotine, so the amount of e-liquid does not change between models: what changes is the battery, the puff count advertised by the manufacturer, the flavour and the type of draw. High-puff models are rechargeable via USB-C even though the tank cannot be refilled, and that is where the real difference in duration lies.

How long does a disposable vape last?

It depends on the stated puff count: a 600-puff vape is roughly equivalent to a pack of cigarettes; an 8,000-puff one can last a week.

Can disposables be refilled?

They are not designed for it and doing so is dangerous. If you want to refill, the right format is a refillable pod kit.

How many puffs does it really give?

The puff counts advertised by manufacturers are measured in a lab with short puffs. In normal use, expect quite a lot fewer.

Can they be recharged?

The battery can in many models, but the tank cannot. When the e-liquid runs out, the device is finished.

Are they going to be banned?

They are currently legal in Spain. The preliminary draft of the new tobacco law proposes banning them with a transition period, but it is still going through Parliament.

How should I dispose of them?

At a recycling point (punto limpio) or in an e-waste container, never in general rubbish: they contain a lithium battery.
